Workhorse

I can’t seem to figure out this spring weather in Toronto. Is it hot? Is it cold? I’ve been scouring my closet for appropriate pieces to wear and decided that today (or at least, the day I wore this) was a good day for plain ol’ basics.

These pants in particular are a workhorse in my wardrobe. In fact, so much so, I purchased another in fear that I might ruin the first pair for wearing them so often.

The pants fit amazing on you but as a petite woman, do you have to get these regular length pants altered to fit like this?

Yes. To get these to just the right ankle length, I hemmed them up about 1.5 inches. My inseam is unusually long for a petite, so someone with a shorter natural inseam than my own would have to hem these >1.5 inches to get a similar result. HTH!

Thanks so much for the tip Cher! I usually avoid non-petite pants but now that I know they can be tailored to look this great, I’ll definitely give it a try.

Oh definitely try non-petite pants! It doesn’t always work, but occasionally you will find a gem where just a simple hem job will do the trick! Some brands even though not technically “petite” are more petite-friendly than others. It’s just a matter of figuring out which ones they are and which ones are flattering to your body-type without having to do more difficult alterations. Personally, I do very well with Aritzia and Theory. Club Monaco is hit or miss, but a few of my most favorite pairs of trousers come from there. GL!
