Holiday Partying

I apologize for the hiatus as of late, but if you follow me on Instagram, you know that I was spending some time in London. It was somewhat of a last minute trip, which is why I did not have anything pre-planned for the blog.

When I returned from the UK, I was greeted with this lovely bandage dress sent to me from The Kewl Shop. I have always wanted a bandage dress, but my general lifestyle doesn’t justify such a purchase. Although I often peruse bandage dresses online, I have never pulled the trigger (but have definitely come close).

The Kewl Shop has a wide selection of bandage dresses, I almost couldn’t decide on one that I wanted to try for myself, but I ultimately decided on the Simple Sexy Bandage Dress. I wanted something classic and yet somewhat conservative since it is very tight-fitting.  I also lean more towards somewhat longer lengths to help give a longer silhouette, and well, I’m older now, so showing lots of thigh isn’t one of my prerogatives. In retrospect, because I am only 5’1, choosing a dress that was “short” in length, probably would still not equate to a mini on my petite frame, even though they did look quite short on the website’s models.

The Kewl Shop Simple Sexy Bandage Dress  / LAUREN by Ralph Lauren Adena Pumps  / TopShop Ring  / Urban Outfitters /  Bauble Bar Metallic 360 Studs (Black/Silver) / Aldo Minaudiere (also like this Zara version)

I opted for a size S as opposed to an XS because I know that in general, bandage dresses run quite tiny and it fit perfectly! If you have ever laid your hands on an Herve Leger dress, you will know that the material is quite substantial and I would even go as far as to say “heavy”. The Kewl Shop’s version has a comparable feel.  The material is thick which means it will likely be resistant to snags and rips therefore, holding up over time, as well as suck you in. As a warning, since the dress is very snug, you may need help zipping this up! The zipper itself is well sewn in and I am certainly not worried about this dress suddenly popping open while I am wearing it.>Other thoughts worth mentioning? Because bandage dresses are so body-hugging, it does have a tendency to “flatten” you out, particularly if you are not well-endowed. A good strapless underpinning will do wonders under this dress if you are self-conscious about that sort of thing.

Overall I am quite happy with the look and quality of this dress. It may be a bit too risque for a conservative office holiday party, but if you have other holiday get togethers or if just like to go out and get all dressed up, this dress would be so much fun to wear and style. It’s simple, as the name suggests, so if you are minimalist like I am, keeping the jewelry simple is a great option, as well as piling on the baubles if you are into that sort of thing.

If you would like to try your own bandage dress, The Kewl Shop has been kind enough to offer 15% off to my readers with code: CHER15. They also have free shipping worldwide! The Kewl Shop also has some  beautiful non-bandage dress offerings as well that are worth checking out.

Warby Parker: Palm Canyon Collection

I love sunglasses. And you’d never know it, but I do also wear eyeglasses. Once in a blue moon, I will venture out of the house in them but it’s not a regular occurrence. Despite this, I spend an inordinate amount of time choosing just the right pair that makes me happy. My preference? Thick, plastic rimmed glasses. There’s something so geeky, yet oh so cool about them. You can imagine my delight when Warby Parker asked me to be a part of spreading the word about the release of their new limited edition Palm Canyon Collection.

Warby Parker makes eyeglasses and sunglasses for both men and women. For this special collection, they have refreshed some of their best-loved frames—Winston, Duckworth, Preston and Wheeler in a Palm Springs palette of mesquite, acacia, ironwood and sand. Designing and constructing the patterns required a technique that took over a year to perfect, and each pair is distinguished with a unique contrast detail created by melding sheets of woodwork-inspired acetate and tortoise acetate together. No two pairs are alike. The price? A very reasonable $145 for each frame.

My favorites of the collection, the Winston:

WP has a great home try-on policy. Pick out five pairs of frames and for five days, you can wear them and test them out. Purchase your favorite pair and they will send it to you right away. Pack up your “try-ons” and ship them back. The best part? It’s free! Both ways! Available to those both in U.S. and Canada.

One of the things I love about Warby Parker is that they give back to those in need. For every pair of glasses you buy from Warby Parker, they provide a pair for someone in need. Last year, they hit an amazing milestone of 500,000 glasses distributed. For this special collection, they will continue to distribute a pair for every pair of glasses sold. Not only do you get a great pair of glasses, but you help Warby Parker with their philanthropic endeavors. How awesome is that?

Review: Cosabella Never Say Never

These days, mostly all of my undergarments are purchased with only functionality in mind. Which basically means black and nude no-show bras and underwear. Boring, I know. Cosabella sent me this lovely bra and panty set from their most recent collection to try out. I do already own two sets of Cosabella lingerie from years and years ago. I fell in love the colors and the softness and they were just so pretty. Sadly, I didn’t get too much wear out of them, as they didn’t quite fit my petite frame all that well, especially back then when I weighed a bit less than I do now.

For a little background on Cosabella, the company was founded in 1983 by Ugo and Valeria Campello. Their design headquarters is in Miami, Florida, but all their pieces are manufactured in Italy. When Cosabella contacted me allowing me to the pieces I wanted, I was a little bit hesitant. Many of the items did not come in XS/P, which according to the sizing chart, would have been my size. I hoped that this just meant the sizing ran a bit small. I chose these two beautiful pieces:

Sorry, there are no IRL modeling photos, I am many things, but lingerie model is not one of them. 😉 But here are a few photos of the Never Say Never Hottie Lowrider Hotpants and matching Sweetie Soft Bra in Rouge:

The pieces are very pretty and soft. They also contain a good amount of stretch. If you own any Hanky Panky underwear, the material is very similar. I do have to say though, that the Cosabella hotpants in size Small fit smaller than the Hanky Panky which only comes in one size.

When I put them on, the pieces actually did fit extremely well.  I wouldn’t recommend it for anyone smaller than myself or they will be too loose. but the soft bra did at least have adjustable straps. Because the Soft Bra is not lined or padded or have any wire, there isn’t much support and it doesn’t give a lot shape which I find is necessary for the small-busted such as myself. But of course, if you are just going for the pretty factor and just needed for those easy days when good structured undergarments aren’t necessary, then these are wonderful and they come in so many beautiful colors. Keep in mind, Cosabella does offer other bra styles with underwire and push-up padding, but unfortunately those particular bras only go down to 32A, which actually is new because they only used to go down to 32B. Hopefully in the future they might consider making the wired bras even smaller that cater to those of us with smaller frames. As for quality, these pieces appear to be made very well with (being made in Italy likely a factor) and will hold up if well cared for.

A few of my own suggestions from the new collection include the Dolce Soft Bra, which does come in Petite (28-30A), so pretty:
