As a child, I was absolutely obsessed with oxfords. I owned at least three pairs by the age of 12. I used to walk around the house in them all day, while trying not to crease the top of the shoe while a walked. This basically meant that I was waddling around the house in my super shiny new shoes all day and all night. I eventually got over wearing oxfords when I discovered heels as a teenager. =)
A few years ago, I decided that I again wanted to own a pair of oxfords that were somewhat reminiscent of the ones that I owned when I was younger. When I saw these Vince Maye Oxfords, I was pretty confident that these were “the ones”.
One of my favorite purchases from 2016 is this camel coat from Aritzia, that now appears to be sold out. Aritzia has just been killing it in the coat department this season. And I actually purchased two coats late last year and have not regretted it for a minute. This particular coat is just the right color of camel that I was searching for, and as an added bonus, the collar can be buttoned up right at the top for those extra windy days when you want to be covered right to the chin. I’m so happy I can cross off another one of those “clas
Winter still seems to be hanging around in these parts. While Easter Sunday is supposed to bring some spring temperatures, Easter Eve was still below freezing. My family attended early morning Mass and I quickly realized I needed to add on some Easter layers to my outfit. Lightened up slightly from my typical dark neutrals from winter, I wore a dusty rose/mauve-colored silk blouse under my white leather moto vest and light grey wool peacoat. I topped it off with a scarf to cover my neck and I was good to go.
Though we’ve had a really mild winter this year, I still can’t wait to pack away the heavy winter layers. I’m already thinking of new spring outfits to wear in the coming weeks, including this one and though I’d normally top this off with a black shoe (because hey, that’s mostly what I have), I decided to go with a cobalt blue suede wedge, because why not?
If anyone is wondering about the status of my Five-Item Challenge, it’s going pretty well (see widget to the right). I made a three-item purchase from J.Crew’s sale, but I actually used a store credit. In past challenges, I always excluded items I purchased with gift cards and store credit but this year I made a rule addressing it because I forgot I even had it! In the interest of being transparent, I’ve included it in the widget even though I’m not fully convinced that they should count. Slippery slope, I know.
