And we’re back. Somehow a two week break turned into a three month break, but nonetheless, I’m ready to try and get back into this as my favorite fashion season has started. And what’s a better post to show off my new nude pumps! I finally snagged myself a pair when Ann Taylor re-stocked these in my size and I’m thrilled. After years of searching for the perfect nude pump that was just the right color, with just the right heel and toe shape, AND actually fit my feet! Not that you’d expect otherwise, but you will likely sees these pumps many of my upcoming posts. 😉
Family and Friends season is quickly approaching (not that I haven’t already made my share of fall purchases including this suede moto jacket) but there are already some great “sale on sale” promotions going on right now including extra 60% off at Ann Taylor (but final sale!), extra 40% off at Banana Republic and extra 30% off on final sale styles at J.Crew.
Other great sales worth checking out: Bauble Bar Family & Friends Sale, 25% off (code: YESPLEASE). Club Monaco Fall Event, 20% off $200, 25% off $300 and 30% off $400 purchase (code: FALL16).
Lace-up shoes are so huge right now and show no signs of waning. Though I usually to stick to more timeless styles when it comes to shoes, I couldn’t help myself with these Sam Edelman Dayna Lace-up Pumps. And I have no regrets. They pretty much go with everything and I’m tempted to just wear them with every outfit!
Look: Well, awesome! What more is there to say? They’re sexy, without being over the top so that I feel they are appropriate for the workplace. The photos in the post are a bit messy since the laces are just laying out and I didn’t make too much of an effort to tame them. These pumps also come in fuchsia as well as gorgeous nude suede, which is oh so tempting.
Comfort: For a 4″ heel, these are actually very comfortable. Decent padding under the feet, and have not experienced any unsightly rubbing or pain. A lot probably has to do with that the laces keep my feet secured in the shoe. You can certainly wear the shoes tied up all the way up the leg if you prefer that look, but from past experience with an old pair of lace-up wedges I had ten years ago, keeping the lacing low and around the ankle allows for more circulation to run through the leg!
Fit: TTS, in width and length. I took my regular size 6.
Quality: The shoe seems to be a pretty good quality for its price point. I expect these to hold up well with regular wear. The outer is made of suede. The laces are synthetic, but I wouldn’t expect otherwise.
Price: $120US before any discounts.
Price: At Nordstrom, you can find these Dayna sandals for 40% off, but only sizes 7+ are available. You can also try websites such as Shoes.com and Onlineshoes.com that always have good discount codes available.

Yes, it’s true, two reviews in one week. Although this one is quite timely given that Ann Taylor is currently holding their Family and Friends Sale right now, offering 40% off everything with code FRIENDS40. I’ve been on the hunt for the perfect nude pump what seems like forever and I’ve tried every nude pump that has ever existed (OK, not really, but it certainly feels like it). I just can’t seem to find the right combination of heel height, color, and fit. But when I saw these Ann Taylor Mila Pumps, I knew I had to try them.
Look: These are beauties. The color is more of a neutral undertone, without leaning too yellow or too pink. Those with a paler skin tone might find these too dark to be truly “nude”, but it goes well my medium to tan skin tone. I also love the heel, which is a bit on the straighter side, which I think gives heels a more modern look as opposed to a very curved shank.
The heel measures 3.5″ from the outside of the heel to the bottom of the heel, which is what the website states as the height of the heel. There is a perfect amount of toe cleavage (in my opinion), not too little and not too much.
Fit/Comfort: The inner sole of the shoe has a good amount of padding and could be worthy of all day wear. The toe box is also not too narrow for a pointed shoe, which if very important if you don’t want your toes to feel squished after an hour of wear. However, I do have to say, that for me, they run a half size too large. I’ve always had trouble “walking out” of my pumps, but these didn’t even have a chance. This surprised me given that the review I read said they were a bit snug, which part of the reason I jumped at the chance to buy these in the first place! I can usually tell when a shoe simply won’t fit due to the shape of my heel and when the shoe is simply too large, and these shoes definitely ran too long. Width-wise, they seemed to be pretty normal, not too wide and not too narrow.
Quality: These shoes appear to be pretty sturdy. The sole is made of leather as is the inside and upper of the shoe. They also feel pretty malleable without feeling like they will stretch out, but instead conform to the foot, which is an absolute must in my book, as I cannot stand a shoe that stretches out almost immediately, but neither can I stand a shoe that it too stiff with hard edges. Of course, because of the sizing issue, I cannot be positive that they won’t stretch out so don’t hold me to that statement!
Verdict: Return, due to sizing issue. Unfortunately for me, the website seems to be OOS in the 5.5. I will just have to hope for a return so that I can give these another go in a smaller size! They also come in navy (ooh!) and black!
