I just finished a wonderful 70 hour work week and finally got a day off after two weeks straight of slaving over a computer screen. It’s been a while since I’ve worked that many hours in a week, and I’m not overly thrilled about it. But for now, I’ll have to just suck it up and attribute the long hours to my learning curve and hope it will pay off in a few months. So I apologize for the sporadic posts, but unfortunately it cannot be helped. For the first time, I have an appreciation for my hypoglycemia, as without it I’d be on a strict coffee-only diet.
After hunting high and low for the perfect black summer shorts, I purchased a linen-blend pair a few months back. I love the slouchy-ness and the light fabric so much I’m contemplating another pair. Aritzia is about to start their summer sale, I think it’s open to everyone starting June 23. I am also loving this pair.
These lace-up sandals are the Madewell Boardwalk Sandal, and even though I have bypassed sandals for sneakers the past few summers, I’m kind of loving these. They are currently 25% off with the code: UNIFORM. I went down half a size after reading several reviews. And I think it was the right decision. They just fit.
On a different note, I was just informed that my office has decided to make everyday denim day (with the exception of client meetings, presentations, etc.). I am pretty ecstatic, who doesn’t want more variety? I have yet to decide how much this is actually going to change what I wear to work, but I do imagine that I’d still be wearing “work” trousers/skirts at least a few times a week. It will also be interesting to see how people interpret these “casual” days. Sure we’re allowed denim, but what will my younger colleagues think that extends to? Leggings? Hoodies? Yoga pants? If I worked in HR I think this would be a legitimate concern as I often see that many millennials don’t understand the concept of “business casual” entails, let alone “casual in the workplace” (um, belly tops? what?). We shall see.
I’m crying right now. Because I’m dying to wear spring outfits, and it still feels like winter outside. I am absolutely obsessed with these olive J.Crew Martie pants, and paired with white it looks so fresh! sigh. Just a few more days and maybe I can finally put away that heavy winter parka.
One of the things that I highlye recommend that every woman invest in their wardrobe, is a default party outfit. Whether that be a dress or a some sort of blouse that is wearable for all types of occasions and something you feel good in no matter what and for those occasions where you just can’t find anything to wear. This happens to be mine: DvF halter top (old) / Aritzia Trousers (similar) / Le Chateau rings (here and here) / Aldo Minaudiere (similar) / Ann Taylor Pumps / Forever21 Bracelet / Forever21 statement ear cuff (also love this — 35% off Cyber Monday with code VIP)
An DvF halter top that can be tied a multitude of ways, with a beautiful drape and looks great with either trousers or a skirt. I was attending my first holiday party with my new firm and my attendance was somewhat last minute. Despite making an attempt to find something in the stores, even braving the Black Friday madness, I couldn’t find anything I felt good in. The only thing I was sure of, was that I wanted my statement ear cuff to be the focal point. So I went to my hairstylist and had her style my hair but not before telling her that my ear cuff absolutely had to be showing. She happily obliged by pinning the hair behind my ear for a cute little party ‘do. I had initially envisioned something a more on the edgier side (as per usual), but I couldn’t argue with this look either. I gave it a bit more edge with a dark lip.
Do you have default party outfit? I’d love to hear it!
And we can’t forget those Cyber Monday deals:
Bauble Bar: 35% off most items with code VIP. Admittedly, however, the really amazing stuff right now is Olivia Palermo‘s line but is excluded from the promo.
Ann Taylor: 50% off plus free shipping on everything. Great deal, because usually free shipping isn’t offered with these types of promotions forcing to spend that $175 to get free shipping. Use code EVERYTHING. I’ve had some good experience with their cashmere, so I’m thinking of picking up a couple of crewnecks in this cobalt blue and burgundy.
